Tunnelling Consultant GmbH is located in Lahr in the Black Forest, and is led by Dr. Ulrich Rehm as Managing Director since 2008. Dr. Ulrich Rehm supports your team as an international specialist for mechanized tunneling temporarily on demand.
Dr. Ulrich Rehm studied civil engineering at the renowned Technical University Fredericiana in Karlsruhe, Germany where he specialized in rock- and soil mechanics.
After graduating with a Diploma in geotechnical engineering he earned his Ph.D. at the faculty of construction management.
For the next ten years Dr. Rehm worked for Herrenknecht AG, the world market leader for tunnel boring machines. Here Dr. Rehm gained invaluable practical experience covering every aspect of mechanized tunneling along with the associated construction management and consulting services.
In his dual role as head of the Geotechnical, R&D Department and Lead Consultant of the Sales and Distribution department, Dr. Rehm operated routinely in all five continents and made significant contributions to many innovative technical developments.
On countless tunnel job-sites he gained comprehensive practical experience in both hard- and soft rock tunneling.

Today he's a frequent speaker at conferences, workshops, master courses and committees, and he is a professor at the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences where he instructed newcomers to the field of mechanized and conventional tunnelling from 2005-2010.
